Hello people, I am back again.
and it's about service learning AGAIN.
Wanted to share something with the class but didn't have the chance to do so, been really busy, sorry. So I think I will have to share it here and hope that enough people reads it.
Some of you have came to ask about the service learning status thing. It seems to be that the school doesn't want to award the service learning to the participants.
Alright, to prevent misunderstanding, I feel the need to inform you all of the whole sequence of events.
First, the organisers and I approached Ms Usha to enquire about the difference between CIP and Service Learning.
After much considerations, we decided to opt for service learning because it's something we can feel that we should push for instead of just doing a low level CIP. So we asked her who will be given the Service Learning Status, and her reply was the organisers and the participants. I am rather certain about this because 4 pairs of ears heard her.
However, after the trip, when we submitted the reflection, Samuel was told by the staff in the General Office that the participants may only be able to get CIP hours and not the service learning status.
When I was informed by Samuel, I wanted to tell you all, but I am sorry I didn't have the chance to do so.
So that's the whole picture. I can swear with all of my heart that we are not using the class to get our own service learning status, we wanted everyone to get it. However, the situation now seems to contradict with what Ms Usha said earlier about participants been given the Service Learning Status. We will see what's the final decision and put in our best effort to get the status for everyone, however, the final decision still lies in the hands of the school. But trust me that we will put in the best effort to get it for you all.
I know it may seems to be that the problem could have been solved if everyone were a organiser. But as much as I would like to put everyone as organisers, I can't. If all of us were organisers, who are the participants? And what if we grant some of us the organiser role and some not, then it would be another issue of fairness already. Therefore only those who planned and came up with this whole proposal are given the organiser status.
It's a sensitive issue here since I am one of the organisers, I could be seen to be defending myself, but I feel there's really a need to clear this misunderstanding some of you might have.
Sorry if I seem to be making a big fuss out of this small matter or taking this thing too seriously, just hate misunderstandings a lot. Sometimes, these misunderstandings may hurt quite a bit too, so ya. that's it.
I am sorry, "Sorry" alone can't bring you back in time, maybe without the service learning, some of us wouldn't want to go there too right? Maybe service learning status weighs more than the things we felt, see and learnt there.
I am sorry for all the damage caused, sorry if you find this post offensive, I don't mean it, just kinda... disappointed? I guess. Sorry.
